Though it’s not unique to the country of Japan itself, many expats find that exploring new hobbies while living in a foreign country is a great way to ground themselves and create a fun, exciting life outside of work that keeps them positive and happy. Hobbies can range from gaming to crafting to music and more, though a hobby doesn’t have to be costly or big to be important or relevant.

WWW #23: Direction

Today’s Topic: Figuring out which direction to take in life

Life isn’t always straightforward and simple. There are times when we have to take a step back and see where our decisions, actions, and consequences of our choices will take us. Sometimes we realize only too late that we’ve chosen the wrong path, or that a pivotal change is needed in order to get our lives on what we consider to be the right track for us. It’s during these moments that we have to assess what’s really important to us to figure out where to go from there.

Part 1: Considering the Factors of Freelance Writing

Many writers, myself included, were likely attracted to the prospects of becoming a freelance writer because of the numerous opportunities that the position presents. At first glance, the job seems like a great fit for anyone who has a way with words. For someone like me who can barely go a day without writing (whether it’s for my own personal projects or someone else’s), it seemed like a great idea to monetize my hobby and talent. Writing – The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

It’s not hard to see when a writer’s heart isn’t in their work, much in the same way that it’s remarkably easy to see when a writer has given their work everything they have and then some. What most people don’t see – though this is slowly changing with writers who show their work being made in real time, but that’s a story for another time – is the process by which writers create their work. During that time, many things can (and likely will) go wrong. Yet, many things can also go very, very right.
